Always do a deep clean. No matter how good the house may appear when you move in, it’s worth giving your home a deep clean. Let’s face it you would rather know the dirt you find in the first few days is yours versus someone else’s, right?!

Changing locks is commonly overlooked when someone moves into a new home. We typically trust that everything is fine, and in all likelihood, it will be fine. Your home will be secure. That being said, it’s worth upgrading your locks upon occupancy. You never know how many keys had been passed out to people over the years, whether that be to tenants, occupants or friends. Listen and pay attention to what your new home needs. Can you hear a leaking faucet? Or feel a draft through the windows? Do you hear the traffic outside? Are the floors squeakier than you remember? This is nothing to be shocked about; the fact is that all houses require repair and upgrades along the way.
