Introduction to the Annex
The Annex neighbourhood in Toronto has some of the finest condos in Toronto. It has long been a community with many apartment buildings in the backyards of wonderful heritage homes. This was partly due to the demand from students and professors at The University Of Toronto. The other big reason is that Toronto’s Annex has historically been an accepting neighbourhood to people from all walks of life despite its incredible wealth. This post covers the best condos in The Annex.
All residents in The Annex understand that there is more density in this downtown neighbourhood than other neighbourhoods to the north. The apartment buildings that were constructed over the last 5o years are proof. Interestingly there are not a lot of condos in the Annex. There are a couple of loft conversions, and there are newer condo developments that are beginning to pop up.
Best Condos in The Annex
School House Lofts
Brunswick Avenue is fortunate to have two of the finest condo buildings in the Annex. School House Lofts is one of those beautiful spots. This was the home to Loretto Abbey School for girls (now located in the North Toronto neighbourhood of The Cricket Club just off Yonge Boulevard). There are only 19 units in this building. It is sporadic to get a glimpse of these units as they are not often listed.
Loretto Lofts
The neighbour to the south of Schoolhouse Lofts. This is a luxuriously finished building with 46 units and lucky 13 condo townhouses behind the building. Again, a rarity to get your hands on one of these condos. There are many business leaders, creative arts and professors that love living in this find loft conversion. Some of the lofts are extraordinary with unique layouts.
One Bedford
One the location of a small Mr. Submarine! Oh, that was a long time ago. Back when 1 Bedford serviced the students and athletes across the street at Varsity Stadium and Arena. Now this luxurious condo building houses the elite of Toronto. Mayor John Torry lives in this building along with many of the who’s who of Toronto. The south-facing units have incredible vistas of the city and the Varsity Stadium’s field.
Honourable mentions: Museum House, B Street Condos, Honest Ed’s.
