What Makes Corktown So Great?

Corktown is a booming area of Toronto. For those not familiar, this neighbourhood is situated just south of Regent Park (which is gentrifying as we’ve never seen before) and just north of the Gardiner Expressway. Corktown is brimming with enthusiast residents who love being out and about in Toronto. You’ll pass stroller upon stroller when you walk through the area — parents pushing with one hand while holding a coffee from a cafe like OdinHaus in the other.

Types of Homes

Detached homes have been the dominant residence in Corktown for a while — but things are changing, and quickly at that. There are condos in nearly every direction you turn now. As more developments pop up, we’ll see additional restaurants and bars opening to support the influx of people. Add in the fact that the West Donlands and old Unilever Factory will be developed in the coming years, and soon enough, you won’t even recognize the area!

You Should See

There are more local gyms that you can swing a cat at here! Two of our favourites are Forme Fitness and Lift Corktown for those who love CrossFit. Both gyms are tailored to group and private workouts and are a great way to get into the Corktown community.

Corktown Common is a great place to take the kids on a nice day. Your dog will be happy, too, as there’s also a dog park! A frequently overlooked gem is the Don Valley trail system that comes to a head here in Corktown. You can walk to the Brickworks and beyond — in fact, you can walk all the way to Lawrence Park and Lytton Park!

Neighbourhood Hotspots

As for food in Corktown, there are some great options for the culinary fan and the health-conscious eater alike. Impact Kitchen is our go-to when in the area. The founder, Josh, took a unique approach to provide delicious, healthy food in a relaxed environment. You’ll regularly see professional athletes stopping by while playing in town, as well as the who’s-who of nationalists like Joy McCarthy of Joyous Health. For those who enjoy Middle Eastern food, we suggest Souk Tabule. It’s great and casual, just like Corktown itself!

Getting Around

Locals can take the Queen or King Streetcar over to King or Queen Station for cross-city access on the TTC. If you’re a commuter, you’re in luck — the DVP and Gardiner Expressway are both just a few minutes away!
