What Makes Davisville Village So Great?

Davisville Village has long been one of our favourite family neighbourhoods in Toronto. There is a great mix of homes and condos with easy access to the subway. There are urban mansions and starter townhomes. Davisville has some great restaurants that give a sense of downtown living while having tranquil streets throughout the neighbourhood. For anyone new to Davisville who may not know of the Kay Gardiner Beltline, this great walking and cycling path takes you on a beautiful forest ride, a great escape from Toronto’s busy streets.

Davisville is an excellent midtown Toronto neighbourhood that is central enough to provide all a person could wish for. Chaplin Estates and Leaside flank it, and the southern boundary is Mount Pleasant Cemetery, another great spot to jog and get away from the bustle of town. Some of Toronto’s best schools are also very close: Maurice Cody PS and the list of Toronto’s finest independent schools: Greenwood, UCC, York School, and St. Clements.

Types of Homes

Davisville homes offer a great cross-section of houses. There are one-bedroom condos along Merton Street, townhouses, semi-detached homes, and urban mansions. Some great options will undoubtedly serve any buyer’s needs. Most of the homes in Davisville date back to the 1920s and 1930s, which means there are some excellent properties as that era offered some lovely designs. Thanks to the condo selections and numerous smaller semi-detached houses, Davisville is one of the more affordable real estate areas in the core of Toronto.

You Should See

This may surprise many people who are less familiar with Davisville Village; there is a lot of outdoor space for people to enjoy. From baseball diamond, lawn bowling (there aren’t many of these in the city, and it’s a ton of fun to play with friends!), tennis courts, Kay Gardiner Beltline, the list seems endless. We love Mount Pleasant Cemetery, which offers an excellent stroll and some of the city’s older trees. If you are lucky, you may spot a red fox in the morning! If you are feeling particularly adventurous, explore how to access the trails that head south through the Brickworks and on to Lake Ontario!

Neighbourhood Hotspots

Davisville has some great pubs. There has long been an English feel to some of the local restaurants. Likely because of the many ex-pats that chose the neighbourhood to settle in many years ago. The Wallace Gastropub, The Bull by Firkin Pubs, and St. Louis Wings are always happening spots and great places to catch the game.

Getting Around

Davisville is perfectly set up to allow for midtown cycling. As mentioned above, Kay Gardiner Beltline offers some crosstown access. The buses and subway (both Yonge and Eglinton subways) are ideal for the long-term accessibility of our city.
