What Makes King West So Great?

Toronto’s King West neighbourhood has boomed over the last 20 years. The area used to have very little attraction; there was no sense of community until the advertising agencies began to see the potential of the historic buildings. They saw a New York City-like SoHo vibe potential in King West — and they were right.

Types of Homes

Condo developers saw the potential here, too. They wanted to create a vibrant neighbourhood for young professionals and those who prefer an uptempo pace to city life, while still being close to work and all the restaurants one could dream of.

Fast forward a few years, and we now have hard loft conversions along Adelaide, projects by Tridel and Freed Developments, and a smattering of other downtown condos.

Today, King West is a mature neighbourhood with some fabulous high-value condos, and it’s only getting better. There’s an overall growth here, with future developments on their way and condo developers bringing creative projects to every pocket of the area.

You Should See

King West is the place to be if you want the best of city life at your doorstep. On the weekends, the streets are alive with locals and visitors alike enjoying the vibrant nightlife. You’re also just minutes away from the TIFF Bell Lightbox, where you can catch fantastic movies and glimpses of celebrities during the Toronto International Film Festival.

Neighbourhood Hotspots

Choose either Bar Buca or Buca in King West, and you’ll be happy — very happy. They offer excellent Italian dishes. Le Select Bistro is hands-down our favourite brunch spot in King West. In fact, this is our favourite place for Eggs Benedict in the entire city! For an amazing coffee shop experience, visit Quantum Coffee on the north-west corner of King and Spadina. Need space for you and your dog outdoors? Stanley Park is the best dog park along King West. It also has great tennis courts, should you wish to get your exercise in, too!

Getting Around

King West’s central location gives it unbeatable accessibility. You can hop on the King Streetcar for TTC access, head over to the Exhibition GO Station for cross-GTA travel, or take a quick drive south to the Gardiner Expressway. While King Street West doesn’t have a designated bike lane, there are a few routes close by, including the beautiful Waterfront Trail that can take you from Mimico all the way to The Beaches.
